Shop Floor Webinar: Using the WMS on browser-enabled mobile devices

COGLAS WEB WMS Dashboard auf mobilen Endgeräten

In brief

Of course, COGLAS allows you to use Shopfloor on mobile devices: find out more here about the WMS app for mobile devices.

Every modern Warehouse Management System (WMS) offers the ability to use Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) to carry out warehouse functions within a company’s warehouse or production hall, known as the shop floor.

Traditionally, these MDTs are connected to a network via Wi-Fi, enabling them to access the WMS data. The MDTs often run their own screens and dialogues, which have been specifically developed for the MDT application and are installed on the devices.

The use of browser-enabled mobile devices when utilising the COGLAS WEB WMS offers significant advantages for the company and staff on the shop floor. The range of devices that can be used thus extends from standard smartphones and tablets, through industrial-grade smartphone-like mobile computers with barcode scanners, to the familiar MDT variants running the Android operating system, as well as standard laptops and PCs.

The software running on the mobile devices is not installed on the devices themselves; instead, they access the WEB WMS software via a browser. To do this, the devices can be connected to a Wi-Fi network, or they can access the WMS system via a standard internet connection, ensuring that access is available even outside the warehouse or production hall, provided there is an internet connection.

Warehouse managers and team leaders can therefore monitor and intervene in operations on the shop floor from virtually anywhere – whether at home or on the move. This is possible via all Evergreen browsers and all common operating systems.

In the Coglas WMS, the WMS dialogue screens automatically adapt to the respective device and screen size, ensuring that all functionalities available in the WMS can also be used on mobile devices. This means that the complete management of a warehouse is possible directly from the warehouse floor – the heart of the operation – and does not have to be carried out from an office or control room. All functions are largely supported by the scanning capabilities of barcode technology, which is widely used in logistics.
