Process logic

production warehouse: connect status, data and next steps

A WMS for production controls material staging, manufacturing stores, replenishment, stock levels, block status and confirmations to ERP or SAP. COGLAS WEB WMS works with production orders and routings, takes planned orders from the production planning system, books production receipts including quantity variances and supports Kanban replenishment (barcode/RFID), tugger train control and value-added services for both single-item and serial manufacturing. Entry starts at 490 EUR/month; with a suitable initial scope, go-live is possible within a few days.

01 Production orders and routings

Take planned orders from the production planning system and turn them into production orders with production line, batches and load carriers.

02 Stage material

Translate demand from production, ERP or order into warehouse and transport tasks; trigger Kanban replenishment via barcode or RFID.

03 Book production receipts

Confirm finished goods with quantity variances (under- or over-delivery) and distribute them to target storage units.

04 Tugger train and value-added services

Supply assembly lines via tugger train; plan and settle kitting and value-added services based on bills of material and routings.

Operational signals

Typical warehouse issues in production

COGLAS WEB WMS surfaces disruptions, status and open steps early so warehouse teams don't have to fix things after the fact.

01

Material is missing at the workstation

Production waits, even though stock is available in the warehouse or has been allocated incorrectly.

02

Stock levels do not match

ERP, warehouse and manufacturing see different quantities or statuses.

03

Replenishment is reactive

Material is only moved once a bottleneck becomes visible.

04

Block and QA statuses are missing

Non-released material enters processes or is detected too late.

Guided flow

COGLAS features for production warehouses

Every step produces useful data for inventory, status, follow-on processes and leading systems.

  5. 05

    Support single-item and serial manufacturing

Material staging, production receipts and confirmations can be structured for recurring serial processes as well as for more variable production orders.

  6. 06

    Confirmation to ERP/SAP

Report status, movements and current stock levels back to the leading system.

Criteria

What production warehouses should look for

01

Leading system

ERP or SAP usually remains leading for orders; the WMS handles operational warehouse movements.

02

Material flow

Staging, replenishment and returns must be thought of as one process chain.

03

Quality

QA, blocks, batches and serial numbers must fit the production process.

04

Devices

Scanners, forklift terminals, printers and workstations must fit the environment.

Is COGLAS a fit?

When COGLAS fits production warehouse

Is COGLAS a fit for your warehouse?
Good fit

COGLAS ist ein guter Fit, wenn

  • Production is slowed down by search times, replenishment or unclear stock.
  • ERP/SAP and warehouse should be more closely connected.
  • QA, batches, blocks or spare parts are relevant.
Check

COGLAS ist kein guter Fit, wenn

  • there is no dedicated warehouse or material flow in production.
  • all stock is already reliably managed in the ERP and operationally uncritical.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When does production need a WMS?

A WMS becomes relevant as soon as material staging, replenishment, stock levels, storage locations or status information influence production.

Does COGLAS replace SAP or ERP in production?

No. SAP or ERP usually remains leading for orders and master data. COGLAS complements operational warehouse and material flow control.
