Klasmann-Deilmann, a leading manufacturer of growing media, relies on the web-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) from COGLAS Cloud. The logistics software, which selects and manages storage locations, also ensures stock transparency, real-time information and minimised error rates.

Improved tracking

With the help of the COGLAS Web WMS, Klasmann-Deilmann is able to track every stage of its products’ journey right through to the customer.

“Before we opted for the COGLAS Web WMS, we used stock-in and stock-out cards. This resulted in an hour of searching time per day per employee. Thanks to digitalisation, products can now be recorded and tracked more quickly, and lorries can be loaded and unloaded more efficiently.”

Daniel Hackmann, Managing Director of Klasmann-Deilmann Produktionsgesellschaft Nord mbH & Co. KG, Sedelsberg, begins the tour in the production area, where the substrates are packed into sacks and big bales with a capacity of up to 4.5 cubic metres before being stored. “Based on the production orders – of which there are around 50 each day – the cloud-based COGLAS Web WMS generates storage notices for the open-storage areas, taking into account the ABC classification of the products.

The areas are designed as block storage with row management. As soon as we produce pallets, the WMS receives the relevant information. The software then generates two barcodes for each load carrier, sends transport orders to the forklift trucks and displays the destination storage locations to the drivers. When the pallets are picked up, there is no need to scan them because the WMS has calculated the sequence.
