The company “Jetzt kommt Kurth …” is a supplier of play and craft materials and last year digitised its internal logistics to ensure that confusing picking lists are a thing of the past. The chosen partner for the implementation is logistics software specialist COGLAS.

The COGLAS WEB WMS manages all processes from goods receipt through storage, picking and packing to goods dispatch. “With this provider, you’re not just one of many customers, but a user who is supported throughout their project and given high priority,” emphasises Dominik Kurth, one of the managing directors of Jetzt kommt Kurth GmbH & Co. KG.

Due to the wide variety of items and high throughput volumes, the company – which supplies goods for nurseries and schools, amongst other things – has automated its processes, thereby optimising all time and distance requirements. The software automatically handles the entire order management process based on strategies that the operator can develop, refine and define themselves.

Quick induction and a high degree of transparency

Staff who were previously used to working with pen and paper were initially sceptical about digital picking. However, it soon became clear that the COGLAS WEB WMS is easy to use. The new tablets feature a user-friendly, well-organised interface, and staff were trained within ten minutes – after which they were able to start working in the warehouse and picking orders almost immediately.

“We use almost every feature of WEB WMS,” explains Kurth. “The system offers excellent transparency throughout, as well as a wide range of display options and filtering capabilities based on status and selection criteria.”

Digitalisation with forward-looking results

Since the optimisation, efficiency has increased by around 12 per cent, a figure to which additional staff have also contributed. As a result, the company now processes well over 2,000 orders daily in its logistics operations. There has also been a significant improvement in the quality of order picking and the overall output. “Our error rates are between 0.2 and 2 per mille. A result that points to a promising future,” emphasises Dominik Kurth with satisfaction.
